Nana Martin is a Jazz singer & composer born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Mariana has a degree in composition from the Dick Grove Jazz School Music in the US as well as a degree in Music Theory from the Brazilian Conservatory of Music. Nana is a very active jazz local artist and has performed for three consecutive years Upstairs at The Van Dyke Cafe together with bassist & music director Dr. Don Wilner and Jazz pianist and Professor Mike Orta. She has released two albums: Bossa Nova Blues & Forbidden Fruit Lounge which combines both Brazilian Jazz standards and her own compositions. Mariana Martin uses the haunting power of her inner world to create evocative works of musical art. What makes her different from other artists is her ability to take her inspiration from artists that she admires and assimilate these influences into her own style. A protégé of Antonio Carlos Jobim, Nana began singing professionally in her native Rio de Janeiro as a teenage prodigy. Mariana moved to Miami in 1996 and has been a leading voice, as well as one of the top Latin guitarists, on the South Florida music scene ever since.
